- Provide technical inputs into the conceptualization, design, implementation of programme and project activities in line with the strategies and priorities of the Culture Sector. Contribute to the implementation of all UNESCO Culture Conventions and their associated protocols in the country.
- Ensure the implementation, monitoring, briefing and reporting particularly those related to the progress and evaluation of Regular Programme activities and projects funded by voluntary contributions. Contribute to the coordination and preparation of training and capacity-building activities in the field of culture, lead advocacy and technical assistance interventions.
- Maintain regular relations and partnerships with national counterparts and key stakeholders (Ministries, regional, local authorities, and private sector etc.). Contribute to the implementation of the Guatemala Office resource mobilization strategy and plans. Lead the mobilizations of funds, resources, and partnerships for the Culture Sector in the Office, including intersectoral and regional projects.
- In line with the supervisor's guidance, represent the Organization in the UN country team, participate in joint programming exercise and in the inter-agency actions and working groups in the framework of the UN Reform and 'Delivering as One'. Maintain working relations with the concerned staff in the Field and staff in Entities/Units at Headquarters as well as other UN agencies, group and entities.
- Advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in the field of culture, humanities, political science, international relations, administration and management, international law, or related field.
- A minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience in the field of culture or related field, of which preferably one (1) year acquired in an international environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, in particular the ability to collect, synthesize and analyse information from various sources and to write documents in a clear and concise manner.
- Strong planning and organizational skills; ability to establish priorities and to plan and monitor own work plan; ability to work under tight deadlines as well as flexibility to adjust work schedules and priorities.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations within a multi-cultural environment and to work effectively in a team environment.
- Good IT skills, including knowledge of MS software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.).
- Excellent knowledge of English and very good knowledge of Spanish.
- Experience in United Nations, international organizations, or in cultural policy institutions.
- Experience in designing and implementing cultural policies and strategies.
- Experience in advocacy, resources, and partnership mobilization.
- Experience in working within the United Nations Country Team (UNCT) would be an asset.
- Ability to work in partnership with a wide range of national, regional, and international organizations at the highest level.
- Knowledge of another official language of UNESCO (Arabic, Chinese French, Russian).

OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST
Under the overall authority of the Assistant Director-General for Culture (ADG/CLT), the direct supervision of the Head of the UNESCO Office in Guatemala, and in close cooperation and coordination with the relevant Entities of the Culture Sector at Headquarters, the incumbent shall contribute to the design, implementation, development and coordination of activities carried out under Major Programme IV - Culture in the countries covered by the Office in the context of internationally agreed development goals, including the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The incumbent shall contribute to the preparation of the inputs for the UNESCO Medium-Term Strategy (C/4), the Programme and Budget (C/5) and related work plans from a national perspective as well as contribute to the 'Delivering as One' exercise in the field of culture.
The incumbent also contributes to the implementation of initiatives related to UNESCO's Global Priorities (Africa and Gender Equality), priority groups and transversal thematic areas, such as Culture and Education, Culture and Climate Change, Indigenous Peoples, Small Island Developing States (SIDS), and Youth.
