    GENERAL INFORMATION

    Title: Advocacy Specialist
    Location: Guatemala
    Reports to: Country Director
    Grade: 7


    RESPONSABILITIES AND DUTIES

    MAIN OBJECTIVE:
    Advocacy Specialist supports the design and implementation of the country's policy advocacy strategy and agenda, enhancing the impact of ChildFund's work and builds and nurtures relationships with key stakeholders for the protection and welfare of children.

    DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supports the planning, development and execution of advocacy strategy consistent with strategic directions in Central América office
  • Supports the development of the Country advocacy plan for Central American Countries
  • Follows up the strategic partnerships with key constituencies to elicit support for and maximize impact of organizational objectives
  • Supports with media organizations, governmental bodies, national groups and networks, organizations of civil society, international organizations, or other relevant to the organizational objectives
  • Follows up on local partner organizations of Central American Office in the effective execution of AOP and budgets
  • Supports participation with at strategic networks, policymakers, think thanks, academic partners, coalitions, media and general public making visible Central América office priorities and policy advocacy issues
  • The Advocacy Specialist will support the conceptualization and execution of strategic events at key moments to advance policy agenda and visibility
  • Follow up the development of research and analysis of the situation of children and adolescents in the country
  • Is co-responsible along with the Communication unit to develop and reach target audiences with local media position statements on issues as well as to produce collateral material for advocacy purposes. Synthesize programmatic and academic research to develop policy recommendations and the documents (policy briefs, infographics, etc.) to communicate them to decision-makers
  • Supports the development of learning and knowledge products related to policy advocacy that meet standards and enable organization-wide learning and sharing
  • Supports with administrative and accounting procedures linked to the advocacy and communication activities

  • QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

    Education
    Bachelor ́s degree in political science, social development, communications, social science, public affairs or other relevant discipline or equivalent relevant work experience

    Skills and Experience
  • Knowledge with government policies, laws, and systems that impact the rights and well-being of children
  • Knowledge and good understanding of global and country development issues
  • Knowledge on policy and public budget analysis
  • Knowledge with research methodologies (quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office products and online communication platforms (e.g., WebEx, Teams, Zoom
  • Experience in planning and execution of events
  • Excellent communications skills, written and oral
  • Fluent in spoken and written Spanish and English
  • Good interpersonal skills, including ability to work as part of a local and international team
  • Significant Travel to ChildFund's geographic areas required
